To celebrate this year’s challenge theme, ‘Rebel Retail,’ 1960s fashion icon Dame Twiggy Lawson, DBE, also known as, Twiggy, is one of the judges, presented the award.  Other judges are:

  • Mr Bernie Brooks, Former CEO of Edcon;
  • Mr Antonis Kyprianou, General Manager, Franchising of Tendam
  • Ms Catherine Mahuga, Founder, Chiswara

The mission of this year was to pick an iconic figure between the 1960s and early 1970s, and connect their identity to develop a new brand. Our team chose Neil Armstrong inspired by the groundbreaking achievement to be the pioneer on the moon in 1969. They developed a gamified mobile application equipped with the AR glasses as a total solution provider for solo travelers, namely Halotreck. The service offers guidance to a variety of tourist attractions so that solo travelers can explore the world without a guided tour. The AR glasses provide an immersive experience of in-depth cultural and social adventures by visualizing unique stories behind each distinctive place, such as the pet bird culture in the Lin Heung Tea House.

During the 3-month preparation, executives and industry experts from Li & Fung provided tremendous sponsorship, financial and technical advice to the team. Dr Stacy Lee, one of the project leaders said, “It is always honoured to work with Li&Fung. Without their contribution and commitment, our winning could not have been possible. Of course, our final year students have done a great job to balance out tough schedules to complete WRC project as well as FYP.”
